I build systems that keep running when things break.

Eight years across enterprise distributed systems, cloud-native microservices, and LLM-backed document pipelines. Right now I'm the technical owner of a modernization at Manulife | John Hancock carrying 85% of enterprise mortgage workflows — architecture through production support.

Document Processing System modernization

Technical owner of the move from a legacy Java 8 on-premises system to a cloud-native, event-driven architecture carrying 85% of enterprise mortgage workflows. Designed the REST APIs and failure handling — timeouts, retries, circuit breakers — and the OpenAI-backed classification and extraction layer, with schema validation and human-in-the-loop escalation when confidence drops.

Platform migration, AWS to GCP

Owned the migration of core platform microservices across cloud providers, moving onto Firestore, Cloud Storage, and Cloud Run. Refactored the legacy Spring MVC codebase onto Spring Boot with Spring Data JPA and Spring Security, containerized for Kubernetes, automated through CI/CD.

Digital Dynamic Application

Built React pages from scratch for a major release, with Redux handling data loading and application state. Implemented XState to model the full insurance application lifecycle end to end — initial submission through underwriting to completion — and cut React deployment time from nine minutes to one.

EDI integration and batch processing

Spring Boot microservices and REST APIs bridging EDI, Progress, and DB2 for high-volume customs brokerage. Improved batch throughput 40% with Java 8 multithreading in Spring Batch and resolved a crash that was taking the system down at peak load. Built the SFTP transfer jobs and the failure notification system around them.

A Framework for Automatic Categorization of Social Data Into Medical Domains

G. Sharma, G. Srivastava, V. Mago · IEEE Transactions on Computational Social Systems · Vol. 7, No. 1, pp. 129–140 · February 2020

An unsupervised, ontology-driven framework that sorts general social data into 14 medical domains with no human labelling. A Java and MongoDB pipeline processed three million records through the Twitter, BioPortal, and UMLS REST APIs, resolving 384,922 medical terms against SNOMED CT concept identifiers.
